As we prepare for children to go back to school, there are many common infections that children (and caretakers) may be exposed to. In many cases, these infections are diagnosed clinically, and laboratory testing may not be required. However, in some cases, laboratory testing can be helpful in distinguishing viral and bacterial infection in an effort to reduce unnecessary antibiotic use. Laboratory testing can also be useful to confirm infection or determine if alternative diagnoses may be the cause of the disease.
TriCore's laboratory data tells an important story about individuals and populations. We provide clarity for patients, healthcare providers, and the public about New Mexico’s health through the lens of our laboratory data. TriCore serves New Mexico’s three largest hospital systems, as well as physician groups, and independent providers statewide. While we do not have all of NM’s respiratory infection data, TriCore’s sizable and diverse footprint gives us a comprehensive longitudinal data set, allowing us to provide clarity regarding New Mexico’s current position as we respond to the pandemic, as well as helping to ensure a safe and healthy population.
This dashboard provides a view of the current week's positive respiratory tests performed at TriCore Laboratories. The report is updated weekly on Wednesdays. The two week trend is an algorithm used to predict if the case counts are increasing (↑) decreasing (↓) or level (−) over the previous two weeks. The Respiratory infection by age depicts the distribution of the positive tests by age group for the current week. (Trends are not reported for COVID-19).
